SECOND BOOK SYNDROME is an urban fantasy dramedy about debut novelist Robert Schiftan, who, in the midst of avoiding calls from his agent and publisher, is visited by a young woman who may or may not be Calliope "Callie" Thornwind, the protagonist of his hit YA novel. Meanwhile, Robert's agent Mira is approached at her office by a man claiming to be the novel's antagonist, Edmund Rose, who offers to help her galvanize Robert through his creative block. When both parties converge on Robert's apartment, resentments bubble to the surface and uncomfortable truths come to light. Can the sins of author and agent be addressed in time for Robert to meet his deadlines? Can creator and character work together to tell the story that demands to be told?
